Concept Sketch: Sunset Veranda Entrance Statement

Throwback Thursday: While I'm still waiting for all my worldly possessions to be shipped over to this great green isle I'm using this time to reflect on past works and pretend I'm a good social media junkie. This is from 2 years ago. City of Scarborough wanted an entrance statement reflecting their seaside fairground history. They went on to win best venue.

Fragments

Working back into some fragments of prints. Drawing out the individual stories within the larger pieces. These are some examples using water colour & silk threads.

Man Bird #2

Man Bird revisited. Having a chill session in the studio today listening to Frankie Valli & the four seasons.....When I should be packing up the studio for the big move to Ireland.

Printing for Exhibition! Huzzar!

Decision time...choosing paper for exhibition. Choice of cotton rag papers and rice papers. Loving the detail achieved on rice paper, hating the idea of figuring out how to frame it.

Lululemon Papercut Art Installation

I was recently commissioned by the lovely folk at Lululemon to do a papercut art instalation for the window of their new store at Claremont Quarter in Claremont, Western Australia. They wanted big and I think I delivered on that! To put this into perspective these windows are 4.2m high. Each papercut is 1.2mWx2.5mH. Thanks Lululemon for the opportunity to work with you, it was an absolute pleasure!

Commissioned Papercut Installation

I've been commissioned to create a hand cut papercut installation for a new store opening up in Claremont. Its a little bit nice to work big when the chance arises. Ok, I always work big, but this is especially big! and in paper!! I think this is how papercuts can really shine, showing their fragility and ephemeral nature. Anyway, here are some progress shots. My draft is on top as my guide to ensure the papercut is beautifully super white, no pencil marks. There will be two large papercuts (1.2mWx2.5mL) to be suspended in-store.

Man Bird - Character Development

Gotta love a piece I can take from concept to print within the space of two days- a refreshing change when most of my lino prints take 4-6 weeks to cut and multiple hand rubbings due to their sheer size and complexity to get a perfect true print. This is something a little different for me. This is a character development of "Man Bird", from "And she loved him".

"They Didn't See Her" Finished!

This baby finished just in time for a Christmas break!  Ready to proof after a slight delay (that of underestimating how long those last little bits take).
